A Tennessee man arrested after a months-long investigation into the sexual battery of a minor

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A Tennessee man has reportedly been arrested following a six-month investigation in Bay County.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that David Edward Grant was arrested after investigators identified him as a suspect in a sexual battery case involving a minor.

An official release states that in May 2024, BCSO deputies were called to Alaska Circle in reference to a domestic call. Deputies said they learned the 15-year-old victim had been contacting an adult male on Snapchat and had possibly met in person and had sexual relations in Bay County.

Investigators said they identified the man as Grant, who was employed by a traveling construction company. They said they confirmed that Grant took the child to a local hotel where the child had sex.

BSCO authorities said they issued and executed more than 10 search warrants and subpoenas and collected a large amount of evidence during the investigation.

Investigators said that on October 31, 2024, Grant was staying at a hotel in Saraland, Alabama, just outside Mobile, where he worked. They said he was taken into custody and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail, where he was interviewed by BCSO investigators, who obtained a full confession.

We’re told Grant is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County to face charges of sexual battery against a person over 12 years of age but under 18 years of age with special conditions; Traveling to meet a minor for sexual purposes; and Sexual exploitation of a child.
