In a shocking move, Kannada director Guruprasad committed suicide at the age of 52. According to press reports by Asianet News, the cause of the director’s death was listed as suicide. His mortal remains were found in a state of decomposition in his house in Madanaiyakanahalli, Karnataka.

The report further stated that Guruprasad’s neighbors had complained about an unpleasant odor emanating from his apartment where he had been staying for the last eight months. On hearing this information, police officials immediately rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. The deceased director’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan.

The report further added that according to police officials, Guruprasad may have taken his own life a few days ago. According to unofficial reports, the reason is the director’s acute financial crisis. He was also in a huge one debtwhat could have prompted him to make such a drastic decision.

A case was registered by the Madanaiyakanahalli police, who initiated an investigation following the incident death. Apart from this, it is said that one of the reasons behind his suicide was the failure of his latest film Ranganayaka. The decline in ticket sales apparently pushed him into a financial crisis. One Internet user said: “It’s shocking! director Guruprasad died by suicide in his apartment in Tata New Haven, Bengaluru. Reports indicate that his body was found hanging. It is further suspected that he died at least 10 days ago.

Another user expressed his sadness over the director’s death and said, “We are very sad about the death of director #Guruprasad who gave us some really good films like #Mata and #EddeluManjunatha.” Guruprasad made his directorial debut with the film Mata, in which Jaggesh played the lead role. His last film Ranganayaka also featured Jaggesh and Rachita Mahalakshmi in lead roles.
