The Student Movement Against Discrimination has issued a notice to one of its coordinators, Hasib Al Islam, over his remarks during a recent talk show that the July Revolution would not have been carried out so easily if “the subway had not been set on fire, or if the police had not been attacked.” .

The notice, signed by the group’s main organizer, Abdul Hannan Masoud, was issued today (November 3), as confirmed to The Business Standard by Abu Baker Majumder, coordinator of the Student Movement Against Discrimination.

The notice says Hasib, in a recent television talk show, made “inappropriate” remarks about the metro and police arson attack in July, which sparked widespread criticism on social media.

He was ordered to clarify his comments within the next three working days.

Hasib made his remarks on private television channel DBC’s talk show “Projotone Bangladesh” posted on his YouTube channel on October 26.

Replying to a question, Hasib said: “All revolutions in history have taken place outside the constitution and law. If the subway hadn’t been set on fire or the police hadn’t been attacked, this revolution wouldn’t have happened. It couldn’t have been achieved so easily, the fall of fascism.”
