The name of a man who died following a crash involving a BMW and an articulated lorry near Lockerbie

The police have released the name of the man who died as a result of a collision between a BMW and a truck.

Emergency services were called to the B7076 road near the junction with the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road just before midnight on October 29.

Archie Williams, the 23-year-old driver of the BMW 1 Series, died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 65-year-old man, did not require hospitalization.

Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts are with Archie’s family and we are providing them with support as our investigation establishes the full circumstances of this crash.

“We are appealing to anyone who was on the B7076 at the time of the accident, who witnessed the incident or has any information that may help. Drivers with dashcam footage are asked to contact the police as soon as possible.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of the red car traveling south on the B7076 prior to the accident who may assist our investigation.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on tel 101 citing incident no. 4261 of October 29.”
