Lance Stroll crashes on the formation lap, throwing the Brazilian Grand Prix into chaos

The Brazilian Grand Prix saw a chaotic turn of events as a Canadian Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll found himself in yet another misfortune, adding to an already challenging weekend. Stroll’s next defeat came just before the start of the race when the driver slid off the track during the formation lap, hit the wall, then went through the gravel and threw the car onto the bank.

The incident followed an earlier accident during qualifying today, making it a day to forget for the drivers Aston Martin driver.

During Q2, Stroll crashed his Aston Martin into the barriers at turn three. This accident occurred less than two minutes before the end of the session and resulted in a break in the session. The delay in raising the red flag to allow Stroll to attempt to return to the pits had further controversial consequences.

this inadvertently hampered other competitors, affecting Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen. As the event unfolded, this effectively invalidated Verstappen’s fast lap and prevented him from improving his position, leading to him starting much further from the grid than expected.

Verstappen was pushed back to 12th after other drivers took advantage of the delay to improve their times. The defending world champion, hit with a five-place engine penalty, had to start the race from 17th position, a significant disadvantage considering his typical performances at the front.

As soon as the field was ready for action, Lance Stroll’s car, freshly repaired from damage from today’s crash, became stuck in the gravel. Defined as an “abandoned launch”, this incident resulted in another wave of activity as the network was reshuffled. The immediate result was a delay in the start of the race, which moved the event from its scheduled time of 12:30 local time to 12:47.
