A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car in southeast Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A person is in critical condition after being hit by a car near a busy intersection in Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Springs police were called to South Academy near Chelton at 8:45 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

“Upon arrival, the pedestrian was found unresponsive in the northbound lanes of Academy Boulevard,” CSPD Lt. said.

Police did not say whether the driver remained at the scene, but the accident was not described as a hit-and-run.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to the latest police findings, he is still there.

South Academy was closed for several hours Saturday evening while CSPD’s Major Crash Team investigated the scene. At the time of writing, it is unknown what led to the accident or whether the driver or pedestrian was at fault.
