Drivers seriously injured after collision with Mack truck, causing vehicle to roll over

MOUND CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Two drivers are fighting for their lives after a Mack truck and a pickup collided and caused an overturn on I-29 in Mound City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just before 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​northbound I-29 and Missouri 118 in Mound City for a report of a two-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found an 18-year-old man from Oregon, Missouri, who was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on the interstate when he came across a 2013 Mack truck parked on the east shoulder.

State troopers observed that the 18-year-old driver left the roadway and hit the left rear of a Mack truck while the 58-year-old driver from Fairview, Oklahoma, was still inside.

Investigators said the impact caused the pickup truck to veer off the eastbound side of the interstate, where it overturned and struck an embankment. The Mack truck remained stationary during the collision.
