Shabana remains bottom of the Kenya Premier League table after losing their third match of the season.

On Sunday, Shabana lost 1-0 to resurgent Nairobi City Stars at the Gusii Stadium.

Mohammed Ali scored in the fifth minute and condemned the Glamor Boys to their second consecutive home defeat.

Shabana once again played without their head coach Sammy Omollo.

His assistant Peter Okidi took over the management.

Shabana Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama said:

“I don’t want to talk about ‘Pamzo’ but we will have a meeting with him within the week. Our technical bench is not fully formed and we expect to make some additions during the week.

After the match, Okidi said they were unlucky.

– We were unlucky in this match. We expected a positive result. We played very well, especially in the second half. We conceded a goal early, which was our undoing,” Okidi said.

However, he asked Shabana’s fans to be patient.

“It’s only six games into the season. They shouldn’t worry. We will then face the Kenya Police before starting the international break.

“This will give us enough time to fix some weaknesses that we have identified in the team,” Okidi said.

He defended the performances of his players.

“We have to be hungry for wins. Against City Stars we played well and did not concede a goal in open play. The team is good. City Stars were simply lucky. This was their day, ours is coming,” he said.

We just need one win and everything will be fine. Players are learning my philosophy a few days after I join the team, which is impressive.

Shabana was missing top scorer Mathew Tegisi and captain Justine Omwando injured.

Shabana will play against Police on Sunday at the Gusii Stadium.

His City Stars counterpart, Nicholas Muyoti, admitted they were lucky.

“Shabana is a good team and they dominated the second half, which forced me to order my players to counter-attack,” Muyoti said.

During his second victory on the trot, after beating Gor Mahia 2-1 on Monday, Muyoti said:

“I’m happy with our second victory on the trot. We kept a clean sheet and I hope we continue the same trend in the upcoming matches.

In other matches, leaders KCB lost 1-0 to Mathare United after a goal by Meshack Otieno in the 55th minute.

Mara Sugar won 2-0 against Bidco United, with goals scored by Meshack Karani and Mike Isabwa in the fourth and 43rd minutes.
