Broward County Public Schools 2024-25 School Year Calendar Updates Due to Recent Hurricane-Related School Closures

In response to missed school days due to Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, the Broward County School Board approved changes to the 2024-25 school year calendar at its Special Education Board meeting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

To maintain the required teaching time, the following adjustments have been made:

  • January 6, 2025: Changed employee scheduling day to regular school day for students.
  • The first semester ends on January 9, 2025.
  • January 10, 2025: Regular school day changed to employee scheduling day.
  • The addition of severe weather days includes November 25, 26, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

These changes do not affect exam schedules. These changes ensure compliance with state instructional time requirements while minimizing disruption to student learning.
