Video: Brutal fight with police in Phoenix, man with knife ends in fatal shooting

A confrontation with a knife-wielding suspect at a retail store last month ended with Phoenix police using Tasers and an officer fatally shooting the man.

The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. on October 20 when police responded to a call regarding a trespass at a Dollar Tree store. KPHO-TV reports. Body camera footage of the entire incident was released last week.

According to a 9-1-1 call, the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, was wielding a knife and terrorizing people inside the store. When police arrived, the man walked away from officers and began climbing up the built-in freezer.

The officers ordered the man to get down and he complied. However, when the officers tried to stop him, the suspect started to run away.

A fight broke out between the officers and the suspect, resulting in all three hitting store shelves. The officer used his Taser and the suspect fell to the ground.

However, the suspect got up and started arguing with the police again. During the fight, the officer picked up the stun gun that had been knocked to the ground and used it again on the suspect.

The suspect knocked the Taser to the ground again and then grabbed the trigger. The activation of the Taser shocked both officers.

The officer eventually opened fire and struck the suspect. Actions were taken to save the man’s life, but he died at the scene.

Two officers who provided assistance were taken to hospital, where they were later released.

Police found a sheathed knife with a fixed blade at the scene. The shooting is under investigation.
