The girl kicked the SUV, so Casper Teen allegedly stabbed her with a machete-like knife

CASPER – A 17-year-old girl stabbed another 17-year-old girl with a machete-shaped knife in the stomach on Halloween after police say the victim kicked the other person’s SUV.

Casper police said the attack occurred in a parking lot on the city’s north side and involved a large gathering of teenagers, marijuana and alcohol.

Gabriella Kathleen Aultman appeared in Casper District Court on Friday, he was charged with aggravated assault and battery. Judge Kevin Taheri set bail at $100,000 cash or surety.

Court records available Monday show the incident occurred after an overnight gathering of about 20 vehicles and people in their teens and 20s in the parking lot of the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center on the city’s north side.

One witness told police that some people were in different friend groups outside their vehicles, others mixed between groups and others remained in their vehicles.

Aultman was at that meeting with a friend and a “designated driver” and agreed to give another 17-year-old friend a ride home in her family’s red Dodge Durango. An arrest affidavit states that when they tried to leave the premises just before 9:30 p.m. on October 31, people gathered behind it, including a 17-year-old stabbing victim.

The victim, identified as “WW,” told police that when the vehicle was in reverse, it almost hit the other people in the back, so she “kicked the vehicle” to “let them know she was there.”

Aultman, known as “Bella,” then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and produced a long machete-like knife with a black and red blade.

Police said she stabbed the victim in the stomach. The affidavit states that the victim grabbed the knife and cut all four fingers of his left hand while trying to pull it out.

Alcohol and Marijuana

During an interview with police, Aultman revealed that she had been drinking and smoking marijuana.

“Bella reported that she drank shots of Pink Whitney vodka and smoked marijuana from a pipe,” the statement read. “Detectives detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Bella’s body.”

Aultman told police she wanted to leave at 9:15 p.m. and was driven by her 17-year-old friend, whom police identified as “AL.” She said her friend backed away slowly as several people were talking near Durango. The statement said she screamed from inside the vehicle for people to move.

The affidavit states that the victim kicked the rear passenger side door of the pickup truck with a front kick.

Aultman told police she became angry and exited the vehicle with the machete she was holding, her right hand extended toward the victim. She told police she asked the victim why she kicked the SUV.

“Bella stated that she extended her hand forward, causing the tip of the knife to penetrate (the victim’s) abdomen approximately 5 inches,” the affidavit states. “Bella withdrew her hand and quickly walked the short distance back to the Durango. Bella told (the driver) to go. As they drove away, Bella states that she began to cry.

Aultman told police she didn’t remember much “dialogue” with the victim. She also told them that she was scared after the stabbing because she was currently being prosecuted for possession of alcohol by a minor.

Emergency surgery

The statement says the victim was transported to Banner Wyoming Medical Center and suffered a “deep abdominal laceration” that required emergency surgery to repair the abdominal wall.

The statement said the victim will potentially require further surgery.

Police stopped the Durango shortly after the incident and found a knife with blood on the blade.

The 17-year-old driver of the Durango, “AL,” told police that she was a “designated sober driver” and that she was trying to be careful when backing out of a parking space when she heard a bang. She moved forward and Bella jumped out with the knife she had in the middle of the SUV.

“After a very short time, Bella ran back to the vehicle screaming, ‘Go, go, go,’” she told police. She said Aultman began giving her directions, babbling and crying, saying he was “sorry she did this,” the statement said.

The affidavit also includes interviews with six other witnesses, aged 18 to 22, who were in the parking lot at the time of the incident. A 20-year-old man told police that the Durango “almost hit” the victim

Aggravated assault and battery carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The stabbing is the latest in a series of violent incidents involving young people and teenagers in Casper this year.
