Man identified after boating accident in Muskingum

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) – A man who was involved in a boating accident earlier this month has been identified.

The ODNR report identified David Lyle Lashley, 55, of Ohio, as the deceased.

The report states that on October 20 at approximately 7:30 p.m., two men were returning to the ramp when the vessel appears to have struck an object in the water, causing the driver and passenger to be ejected.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) – Crews responded to a fatal boating accident in Ohio on Sunday evening.

Here’s what we know so far.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, two people were thrown from a boat after it hit something in the water.

One of them returned to the boat and pulled the other person back on board.

They then went to a private marina at 500 River Road to get help.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, ODNR Natural Resources Officers, Emergency Medical Services and a Wildlife Specialist responded to the scene.

According to ODNR, when crews arrived, one of the people was unresponsive. The emergency medical team performed resuscitation, but it was ineffective and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

ODNR has not determined the exact location of the accident and cannot confirm what the boat hit.
