One person died and three others were injured after approx There was a multi-vehicle accident on I-81 on Thursday According to Pennsylvania State Police in Lebanon County.

The crash occurred at 11:24 a.m. in the southbound lane at mile marker 82.6 in East Hanover Township, police said.

State police said a tractor-trailer, a Subaru Impreza sedan and a pickup truck were stopped in heavy traffic on southbound I-81 when another tractor-trailer traveling in the right lane struck the rear of the sedan.

According to police, the impact caused the sedan to veer off the road and hit a sign.

Police said the tractor-trailer was traveling forward, striking the rear of the van, which then struck another tractor-trailer from behind.

According to police, the van driver died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer that caused the crash, along with the driver and passenger of the sedan, were taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

The accident closed the southbound lane for almost seven hours. They reopened around 6:30 p.m., according to PennDOT spokesman David Thompson.
