Patrick Mahomes has been helping off the field after suffering an apparent injury against the Buccaneers

On Monday night, Patrick Mahomes received help from the field after throwing a touchdown pass for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With the Chiefs trailing 17-10 and facing third-and-goal from the Tampa Bay 7-yard line, Mahomes dropped back and then broke through the line to the right side. As he approached the line of scrimmage, two Buccaneers defenders moved to tackle him, and he passed the ball to Samaje Perine, who stood alone in the end zone, for a touchdown.

It was the brilliant play we expected from Mahomes. However, when the camera panned to him, he was on the pitch with a left leg injury.

In the replay, he took an awkward step and appeared to aggravate his ankle injury.

Mahomes received help from the field, but later ran to the sideline and returned to the game on the next series.
