Telangana Another case of vandalism at a temple in Shamshabad sparks police outrage. Initiation of an investigation

News from Shamshabad: Miscreants allegedly damaged several statues in a temple at Shamshabad airport colony in Telangana, prompting the Cyberabad police to initiate an investigation on Tuesday morning. The incident was discovered by the temple priest who noticed that the idols, including the Navagraha, were desecrated when he arrived for morning prayers. Reports indicate that the attackers entered the temple premises by opening the gate and using stones to damage the idols.

B. Rajesh, DCP, Shamshabad said, “The property of the Hanuman temple at the airport colony was damaged due to which we have dispatched our crime team… local police reached the spot. According to residents, an unknown person came here and damaged property. We stopped him. We are also talking to temple committee members regarding restoration (of damaged property).”

Reacting to the incident, Telangana BJP addressed X saying, “Another tragic day and another holy Hindu temple desecrated in Telangana under the Congress rule. In an attempt to appease the vote bank, the Congress government has turned a blind eye by refusing to punish those who desecrated our holy temples in previous incidents, failing to deliver justice but only emboldening these hate-filled attackers who now act with even greater impunity.”

“To defend against such attacks and divert public attention, Congress recently ordered the appointment of social media coordinators in temple trusts,” it said.

Dr Ravinuthala Shasidhar, national spokesperson of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has criticized the government for its handling of the temple desecration in Telangana. He noted, “Rahul Gandhi, who is visiting Hyderabad today, should address these temple attacks and clarify his stand on sectarian violence. The government’s failure to prevent these incidents has encouraged further acts of vandalism.” He also called for strict action against what he called “Islam fanatics” involved in such attacks.
