The WVSSAC votes to change the classification every two years

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — The WVSSAC has voted to change the classification from every four years to every two years.

Wayne Ryan, deputy executive director of the WVSSAC, told 13 News that standings will be based on modified enrollment numbers. The student’s registration minus the direct certification data will be the new modified registration number. Directly certified students are students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and count as half of the student body for enrollment.

This came after August, when many schools changed their classifications just before the season, including Spring Valley, Capital, South Charleston and Riverside – all from AAAA to AAA.
