Philadelphia Eagles place Byron Young on injured reserve

The Eagles are placing defensive lineman Byron Young on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Young missed an entire week of practice and will now miss at least the next four games.

Young is the second substitute with a hamstring injury, joining star left tackle Jordan Mailata.

Since then, Young has been inactive for all six games The Eagles acquired the former third-round pick from waivers from the Raiders.

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s defensive unit was ranked 70th overall in the 2023 class after a collegiate career that included a College Football Playoff National Championship and a second-team All-SEC selection in 2022.

Young started playing last summer due to a physical inability to perform, but was activated for the preseason. Young played in six games his rookie season, logging no more than 31% of the defensive snaps, as he was on the field for 99 defensive snaps and 13 special teams appearances.

Young recorded four tackles in 2023, but he’s starting over on a team featuring a dozen former SEC stars.
