TCU Football: Week 9 depth chart

TCU Football: Week 9 depth chart

After TCU upset win with Utah this past Saturday, many Horned Frog fans are wondering where TCU stands in the Big 12 standings. TCU currently has a 2-2 conference record in the wide-open Big 12 and a 4-3 overall record. Considering how healthy TCU is right now in terms of depth, the Horned Frogs are prepared to compete in every game they play, including Saturday’s game against Texas Tech.

While some consider Texas Tech to be a conference powerhouse, the Red Raiders also struggled on defense. Texas Tech has the advantage in points per game, but has also allowed more points on defense by a significant margin. TCU allowed 27.43 points per game and Texas Tech allowed 36.14 points per game. Some of the injuries the Raiders suffered early in the season likely contributed to their struggles on the defensive side of the ball.

Cooper McDonald is TCU’s main injury story this week. McDonald has 2.5 sacks on the season and is flexible in his role on defense. Deal with Dean will likely play for the Frogs this Saturday after a great game against Utah last week. Even when Deal rotated on defense, he had a decent impact on blitzes as he had 4.5 tackles for a loss.

On the offensive side of the ball, the offense remains mostly the same. But don’t be surprised if we see more Battle of Trent while the junior averaged 5.6 yards per carry last weekend. Head coach Sonny Dykes said Tuesday that the role Williams Salvation that they had in the current game will not be a permanent trend in the offensive game plan.
