The Washington Commanders offense seemed unstoppable for a period midseason, but things have become more inconsistent since Jayden Daniels was diagnosed with the disease rib injury before their Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears.

However, the quarterback didn’t miss a game, and neither did head coach Dan Quinn he told reporters Monday: “I want to start by saying this clearly: Jayden Daniels is not currently injured.”

Quinn too he said that Daniels’ lack of training time made a difference in attack and suggested more reps will help solve some of the ball placement and accuracy issues that have plagued him lately.

In Weeks 3-7 before the Bears game, the Commanders averaged 35.4 points per game and went 4-1, with the only blemish being a seven-point loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

But Daniels and the offense made just four field goals before a Hail Mary in the final game salvaged a victory over Chicago.

The Commanders are just 1-2 in three games since the Hail Mary and allowed just 18 points in Thursday’s key division loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Daniels also has just 58 total rushing yards in the last three games after rushing for 40 or more yards in six of the first eight games of the season.

Running clearly puts him at greater risk of further injury, but it also adds another dimension to the offense that has been largely missing during his ongoing two-game losing streak.

Still, Washington is in an ideal position with a 7-4 record and two straight home games against the struggling Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans in the near future. A healthier Daniels with more consistent training during a gentler part of the schedule could lead to better results on the field and a relatively safe spot in the NFC playoffs in the future.
