Greeley police are investigating the shooting that left a 19-year-old dead after a suspect was arrested

Greeley police are still investigating the exact events that led up to this murder of a 19-year-old man on November 2.

Police responded to a shooting that injured one person on Nov. 2 at 7:10 p.m. in the 2000 block of 9th Ave., according to a department news release. in Greeley. There, officers found a male victim, later identified as 19-year-old Jesus Solis, lying in the roadway suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

While waiting for the arrival of emergency medical services, the officers took actions to save the victim’s life. According to the release, medical staff took Solis to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As police previously reported, a car accident involving unoccupied vehicles occurred nearby during the shooting. Police also expressed belief that the victim and suspect knew each other and it was not a random attack.

Police identified 19-year-old Marco Ruiz-Villescaz as the suspect in the shooting. According to the release, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Ruiz-Villescaz on suspicion of several charges, including second-degree murder.

Greeley officers, with the assistance of the SWAT team, apprehended Ruiz-Villescaz and booked him into the Weld County Jail on Wednesday.

Colorado court records show Ruiz Villescaz will appear in court again Tuesday morning to seek an arrest warrant.
