Three arrested after drug raids – FBC News

Three people are in custody after they were allegedly found in possession of white substances, most likely methamphetamine, several items possibly stolen and foreign and local currencies.

Assistant Commissioner for Police Operations Livai Driu says the Southern Division’s Serious Organized Crime and Intelligence Unit, K9 and Fiji Dog Detection Unit carried out a quick check in Raiwai yesterday, resulting in the arrest of two men and a woman.

In a separate incident, a black bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana was discovered during a quick check carried out at the Bagasau roadblock in Vanua Levu.

ACP Driu says officers from Tukavesi Police Station stopped and searched the trunk of the bus where they made the discovery.

He says that during another quick check on Sabeto Street on Monday evening, several branches of dried leaves that appeared to contain marijuana were seized.

After initial inspection, two people were arrested.

ACP Driu says several sachets containing white substances believed to be methamphetamine and dried branches believed to be marijuana were allegedly found in a 35-year-old man living in Navua.

The search was carried out by the Southern Division Serious Organized Crime and Intelligence Unit

The same team conducted a follow-up search which resulted in the arrest of another 35-year-old man, who also lives in Navua, after he was allegedly found with dried branches believed to contain marijuana.

All confiscated substances were submitted for analysis.

He says joint raids will continue in five police departments.
