The CPS is investigating the Cleat Hill explosion

Bedfordshire Police has involved the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in its investigation into a fatal house explosion in Bedford.

Paul Swales, 85, and Julia Harris, 84, died on October 19 following an explosion and fire at their Cleat Hill home.

At the public meeting, Deputy Deputy Zara Brown said she was investigating the “criminal and civil aspects.”

The explosion occurred in July near the site of an underground gas leak after drilling a hole to install a ground source heat pump.
