Miami Police Arrest Man Suspected of Sexual Assault of 71-Year-Old Woman – WSVN 7News | Miami news, weather, sports

MIAMI (WSVN) – Police said a 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 71-year-old woman in Miami.

According to the Miami Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, Leon Alonzo Norman is charged with kidnapping, sexual battery and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.

According to police, the attack occurred Thursday morning just after 3:30 a.m. near Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital.

Officers were alerted when a citizen reported a woman who claimed she had been raped.

The victim told police that an unknown man grabbed her arm, forcibly removed her underwear and sexually assaulted her. Authorities said witnesses confirmed this account.

Officers quickly released a description of the suspect, which led to Norman’s arrest.

Police said detectives also obtained video footage corroborating the victim’s and witness statements.
