Pedestrian identified after fatal crash on S. Academy Blvd. earlier this month

COLORADO SPRINGS — The pedestrian who was struck and killed on South Academy Boulevard earlier this month has been identified.

The woman was 25-year-old Michaela D. Henderson, according to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred on Nov. 2 around 8:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Academy Boulevard, near the intersection of Chelton Road.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), Henderson was taken to the hospital, where she died the next day. According to the CSPD investigation, Henderson was crossing South Academy Boulevard but was not in the crosswalk when she was struck.

According to CSPD, this was the city’s 45th traffic accident victim this year. Police say 50 people have died in accidents in the last 365 days.
