Woman arrested at Reno Tahoe International Airport on stalking and assault charges

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A woman was arrested at Reno Tahoe International Airport on suspicion of aggravated stalking, assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and other charges.

According to a probable cause report obtained by KOLO 8 News Now, just before 7 p.m. on November 8, a Reno-Tahoe Airport Police officer was called to the airport parking lot for a report of threats.

Air Command informed the officer that a man had called and said his future wife, Kimberly Grimes, was at the airport and had previously threatened him. He said he thought she had stolen the gun and was waiting for her to hurt him at the airport.

The arriving officer found Grimes’ car unoccupied on the second floor. Further observations by the officer revealed they were two feet behind the front driver’s wheel.

The officer made contact with Grimes, who was sitting on the ground. The officer said she refused multiple commands to show her hands. A second officer who responded to the scene also made contact with Grimes. The reporting officer stated that he heard the second officer yell at Grimes to drop something, which he believed to be a reference to a firearm.

The second officer pushed Grimes aside, causing the gun to fall from her hands. The officer then managed to stop Grimes.

When Grimes was later interviewed, police say they were unable to answer questions about why she was there, but she denied any intention to harm the first caller.

Grimes was booked into the Washe County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and resisting a public officer with a weapon.
