Indian striker Mohammed Shami injured again? The pacer offers an update in a social media post

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami suffered an injury during the domestic Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) T20 tournament on Friday (November 29). The opener, who featured for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh, was feeling slight discomfort in his lower back.

Shami received immediate medical attention from Nitin Patel, a member of the Board of Control for Cricket’s Indian Center of Excellence (BCCI) medial panel, and was cleared of any serious injuries.

The pacer also posted an update on social media, posting photos of his workouts with the caption: “Strong legs, strong mind, strong body. “,”

Shami returned to competitive cricket after spending almost a year on the bench following the 2023 ODI World Cup final on November 19 last year. He was also not selected for India’s tour of Australia due to his match fitness and lack of rush at the international level.

Since his return, Shami has played one top-class match – taking seven wickets against Madhya Pradesh, followed by four T20 matches in SMAT.

The pacer, however, looked a bit off, taking just four wickets in four matches and taking his best figures of 3/21 in four overs during Bengal’s match against Hyderabad.

Coming to the match against Madhya Pradesh, Shami took no wickets and gave away 38 runs in four overs.

There was speculation that he would join the Indian team in Australia on his return to competitive cricket. However, the management refrained from doing so as the bowlers in the current squad are performing well.

India won the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test by 295 runs under stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, who was also the Player of the Match after taking seven wickets in the match.

The next BGT test starts on December 6 in Adelaide.
