One arrested after robbery of CVS in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Virginia – Lynchburg police said a man was arrested Sunday after robbing a CVS in Lynchburg.

LPD said they received a report of a theft at CVS on Campbell Avenue on Sunday around 6:22 p.m. The employee said he saw someone putting store merchandise into pillowcases, and when confronted, the suspect lifted his shirt and showed the employee a gun.

Authorities said the man fled the scene after the incident. but he was quickly located at a nearby apartment complex. After police ordered him to surrender, he was arrested without further incident.

The man was identified as 40-year-old Edward Franklin. He was charged with the following:

  • Assault: using a firearm to commit a crime (subsequent crime)

  • Robbery: Robbery involving the use or display of a firearm

  • Gun Offense: Possession or transportation of a firearm by a convicted felon

Franklin is currently being held at Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
