How Todd Chrisley is reportedly feeling after being released from his job at the prison chapel

Since he was sent to prison in early 2023, reports and rumors have swirled around Todd’s time behind bars. During his career, it was confirmed that he had found a job in his facility’s chapel, but it appears that he has now formally lost that position. After one of his lawyers, Jay Surgent, broke the news, the lawyer also shared his client’s feelings about losing his job.

In early January 2023, Todd Chrisley reported to the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida. News of Chrisley’s removal broke a few days ago and during a conversation with TODAYJay Surgent said the father of five was “disappointed and emotionally hurt” by losing his position. As for the cause of all this, Mr. Surgent believes it can be attributed to Patriarch Chrisley “communicating with those admitted” to the drug prevention program at the prison’s residential facility. Apparently those who are part of RDAP have “outside access”. Still, Surgent said Chrisley “has always represented the administration” as “he does an exemplary job in his position,” which reportedly allowed him to connect with many of his fellow inmates. About these personal connections, Jay Surgent said:

They also seek him out to discuss their particular situation or emotional issues they may be having, as well as to coordinate religious services that some of these prisoners will attend.

In 2022, Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years in prison for financial crimes, while Julia Chrisley received a seven-year prison sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Until November 2023 Mr and Mrs Chrisley’s sentences were reduced by two years and 14 months, respectively. All the while, the two sought to appeal their case, and their oral arguments were heard last April. A federal appeals court in Atlanta ruled that Todd’s sentence would stand, although Julie’s sentence was overturned. This was due to a ruling that there was insufficient evidence to prove that she was aware of the crimes committed. Despite this, after expressing resentment, Julie’s original seven years were restored, much to Todd’s supposed disdain.

The couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, is speaking on their behalf, maintaining that they suffered poor living conditions during their time in prison, including a lack of air conditioning. Through your lawyer, Todd claimed that the food in prison was of poor quality and is not suitable for consumption. Even Savannah she claimed that her mother found snakes in her cell. (Many claims were denied by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.)

Although Todd Chrisley was reportedly not happy behind bars, his daughter Lindsie claimed that both he and his wife were “welcomed with open arms.” The report, which was published over a year ago, shows that Chrisley also thought there was a good reason why he went to prison. He apparently thought he had an opportunity to connect with prisoners and potentially help improve their lives behind bars.

It is not known whether the 55-year-old businessman will try to do so after losing his job as a chaplain. Additionally, as of this writing, the Federal Prison Camp has not yet released further details on the reasons for Todd Chrisley’s release.
