Cañon City man dies in fatal accident in Florence – Canon City Daily Record

A Cañon City man was killed Thursday on Colo. 115 in Florence when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in front of him.

Blake Marquez, 20, died at the scene of a three-vehicle crash at milepost 5 around 2:20 p.m.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Marquez was riding his Suzuki motorcycle northbound eastbound when he collided with the left rear of a Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 72-year-old Pueblo woman. After the impact, Marquez was thrown from the motorcycle. The Pathfinder then collided with a Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 27-year-old Florence man. After the collision with the Dodge, the motorcycle was pushed south and collided with a guardrail. The Dodge continued south and also collided with the guardrail.

The Colorado State Patrol said Marquez was wearing a helmet during the collision. No other people were injured in the accident.

It is suspected that the accident was caused by excessive speed of the motorcycle.
