A Florence County man faces armed robbery and weapons charges

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A 26-year-old man faces armed robbery and criminal possession of a firearm charges after allegedly stealing items from someone at gunpoint, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said.

Leon Christopher Shaw Jr. of Florence was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen handgun and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

According to the sheriff’s office, Shaw allegedly robbed a person of various personal items at gunpoint around Oct. 9, according to the sheriff’s office. The incident occurred on E. Pine Street near Florence.

The sheriff’s office said Shaw also had a stolen handgun and marijuana in his possession after the chase with authorities. He was booked into the Florence County Detention Center on Thursday and released on $19,000 bail on Saturday.
