Victim identified in mass shooting at Halloween party in Bella Vista

The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the person killed in a weekend shooting at a Halloween party in Bella Vista.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Drake Myles Alfaro of Redding, California, according to the coroner’s office. Next of kin have been notified and an autopsy will be scheduled.

The shooting occurred during a Halloween party at a home in the 2100 block of Highway 299 East in Bella Vista around 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 27. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Redding and Anderson police deputies and officers found Alfaro’s body at the scene, and five other adult victims suffered gunshot wounds. Police said five adults were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

SCSO said the case remains an open investigation and is ongoing. Due to the large number of attendees at the event, SCSO is asking anyone with information to contact the Shasta County Major Crimes Unit at (530) 245-6135 or by email at [email protected].

According to SCSO, the shooter was identified and questioned. However, no arrest has been made as the investigation is ongoing.
