9-month-old white tiger dies at Delhi zoo due to ‘post-traumatic shock’


New Delhi:

On Wednesday, authorities said a nine-month-old female white tiger who was undergoing treatment died at the Delhi Zoo of “post-traumatic shock” and “acute pneumonia.”

The cub, which had been under observation in hospital since September, died four days ago, said zoo director Sanjeev Kumar.

“The female was undergoing treatment. She died of post-traumatic shock and acute pneumonia. Her samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing,” SanjeevKumar told PTI.

To ensure the safety of the remaining animals, SanjeevKumar said preventive treatment and close observation have been started for the remaining cubs.

An official source at the zoo said three tiger cubs were admitted to the hospital for various reasons. The toddler who died suffered a fracture.

“Treatment of the remaining cubs has been completed and they are doing well,” the source said.

Established in 1952, the National Zoological Park, also known as Delhi Zoo, is situated in an area of ​​176 acres under the jurisdiction of the central government.
