Two students stabbed near Albany High School’s career center

The arrest comes after two teenage students were stabbed outside the Career and Technical Center in Abookin on Monday.

At approximately 11:55 a.m., officers responded to the Abookin Center for reports of an assault. They then located a 15-year-old student with a stab wound to the calf and a 16-year-old student with a stab wound to the biceps.

Both students were taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the two student victims were getting out of their car when they were approached by a 16-year-old suspect from another car. The suspect fought with them before stabbing them, and further investigation revealed they all knew each other.

The suspect was later observed by officers near Green Street and Westerlo Street. Police charged the suspect with one count of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The suspect was arraigned in Albany County Family Court and placed on probation.

Both Albany High School and the Abrookin Center were briefly placed on lockdown immediately following the incident. No one else was injured.
