Armed attackers murder youth from a village in Phillaur

According to reports, around half a dozen armed unidentified assailants murdered a village youth in Akalpur village near Phillaur with sharp weapons late on Sunday evening.

DSP Sarwan Singh Bal said that according to information received, the deceased, identified as Jagtar Singh (38), picked up a call and left for a meeting, after which the accused attacked him with a sharp weapon.

He was taken to the civil hospital in Phillaur, lying in a pool of blood, where he died from his injuries.

DSP Bal said the police have registered a case against the unknown killers. According to DSP Bal, the reason behind the murder was personal enmity.

The deceased left a wife and two children. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after the post-mortem conducted at Phillaur Civil Hospital. On Monday evening, hundreds of villagers took part in the cremation.
