A 40-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of a man murdered in Dublin more than two years ago has been released without charge.

Bosnian citizen Adnan Asic was fatally injured in an attack that occurred in the early morning hours of October 22, 2022, after he attended a late-night event near Blanchardstown Shopping Center.

The 60-year-old, who had lived in Ireland for more than 30 years, was “brutally attacked” while walking and later died from his injuries.

Autopsy results showed that Asic suffered blunt force injuries to his chest and arms.

Yesterday there was a man detained by gardaí in connection with the murder of i detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the North Dublin area.

It is known that he was interrogated by the police in connection with the case.

Guard confirmed this morning that he had been released without charge, but that the DPP would prepare a file and an investigation was “ongoing”.

A garda spokesman said: “A 40-year-old man arrested in connection with this investigation has been released without charge.

“A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Gardaí renew their powers appeal anyone who was in the vicinity of Blanchardstown Road North, Old Navan Road and Blanchardstown Shopping Center and surrounding areas on Saturday, October 22, 2022, between 12:00 and 03:00.

They are calling on anyone who “observed any activity that came to their attention to come forward.”

They are particularly looking for anyone who saw the two men together at the intersection of Blanchardstown Road North and Old Navan Road, Mulhuddart in the early hours of this morning to report to Gardai.

A spokesman said: “We would ask any road users (particularly taxi drivers) or pedestrians who were traveling in these areas at this time and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) to please share this footage with Gardai.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
