Punjab: 2 assailants opened fire on the vehicle of Hargobindpur Municipal Council Chairman

Sri Hargobindpur Municipal Council Chairman Navdeep Singh Pannu was left in fear when two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on his vehicle on the Tanda-Shri Hargobindpur road, police said on Wednesday.

Driver Pannu also escaped unscathed from Tuesday evening’s attack.

Pannu was heading towards Sri Hargobindpur from Tanda when the attackers fired several shots. Police said five bullets hit the vehicle.

Inspector Gurwinderjit Singh of Tanda police station said the incident took place around 750 meters beyond the inter-district check post on Tanda-Shri Hargobindpur road.

Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Sarbjit Singh Bahia said police have initiated an investigation and efforts are on to trace the attackers.
