Tirupati Stampede LIVE: Andhra Pradesh Government announced on Thursday: 25 lakh ex-gratia amount to the family members of devotees who died in a stampede near Vishnu Nivasam temple in Tirupati.

Earlier in the day, two people registered an FIR in the Tirupati Stampede case. The incident took place near Vishnu Niwasam, near the Tirumala Srivari Vaikuntha Dwara ticket counter, during the distribution of ‘darshan’ tokens. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to meet the stampede victims on Thursday

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Additional Executive Director Venkayya Chowdary on Thursday early morning visited Sri Venkateswara Ramnarayan Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati to meet those injured in the tragic stampede in Andra Pradesh a day earlier. Six people were also killed.

Tirupati stampede case: what led to the tragic incident?

The stampede at the Tirupati temple took place on Wednesday due to overcrowding as people rushed to collect tokens near the ticket counter at the temple, TTD chairman BR Naidu said.

“The reason (for panic) is overcrowding… it is an unfortunate incident… tomorrow the CM will tell everything, there will be a complete report today. A total of 6 people died. some are from Tamil Nadu and some from Andhra Pradesh. One body has been identified so far,” he said.
