Wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area On Thursday, flames continued to burn out of control, with at least five blazes covering more than 45 square miles.

At least 10 people died as a result of the fires that occurred driven by drought and gusty winds.

Above 180,000 people were forced to evacuate while the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires — among others — are burning tens of thousands of acres in densely populated areas.

Photos of the disaster, which will likely be considered the most devastating in Los Angeles’ history, show the apocalyptic scale of destruction and heartbreak it left in its wake.
