“The first welfare check was on December 23, then December 29, December 30, then December 31,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Department deputy spokeswoman Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune.

During a Dec. 23 welfare check, a neighbor told deputies she had not seen the couple who owned the home or their son since August. according to a search warrant reviewed by The News Tribune.

According to the story, the social inspection carried out on December 29 took place after a call from an online friend of one of the homeowner’s sons. The friend told officers that on November 12, the son’s girlfriend posted on social media in which she stated that she was “contemplating suicide with (son).”

The deputy attempted to contact the home that day but received no response. The article said there was no odor and the deputy didn’t see anything to suggest someone died inside.

On December 31, Pierce County deputies were dispatched to the home for a welfare check. They were able to enter the home when the son’s friend helped the deputy contact another son. The son stated that he had not spoken to his father since September.

The officers found the bodies of a man and a woman inside. According to The News Tribune, two additional bodies were found after deputies obtained a warrant to search the rest of the home.

During the second search, two notes were found on a leaking refrigerator in the kitchen, which read: “Time of death July 24, 5:45 a.m.” and “Time of death July 24, 3 p.m..”

Records show deputies described the home as “very dirty.”

Law enforcement authorities seized two firearms and ammunition. According to reports, another note was found on a large refrigerator in the adjacent garage. According to the document, there were notes on it “indicating something like ‘Date of Death’.” The detective said it had dates from early 2024, probably around July.
