A paraglider crashed with serious injuries in Lancashire.

The victim was airlifted to hospital for treatment of spinal injuries after the ship crashed around 16:10 GMT on Friday, rescuers said.

Volunteers from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue attended the scene and found that this was the last of 16 calls that have already been made this year.

Pendle Hill, popular with outdoor enthusiasts, is known in local folklore for its association with: witch trials of 1612 and also as the place that inspired the beginning of the Quaker movement in 1652.
