Pendle Hill: A paraglider crash that leaves the pilot seriously injured

A paraglider crashed with serious injuries in Lancashire.

The victim was airlifted to hospital for treatment of spinal injuries after the ship crashed on Pendle Hill at around 4:10 p.m. GMT on Friday, rescuers said.

Volunteers from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue attended the scene and found that this was the last of 16 calls that have already been made this year.

Popular with outdoor enthusiasts, Pendle Hill is famous in local folklore for its association with the 1612 Witch Trials and as the site that inspired the beginning of the Quaker movement in 1652.
