Chicago Shooting Today: Rideshare Passenger Injured in I94 Shooting at 53rd Street, Illinois State Police Says

CHICAGO (WLS) — Illinois State Police said a rideshare passenger was injured in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago’s South Side early Saturday morning.

The ISP said troopers arrived on northbound Interstate 94 near 53rd Street just before 1 a.m.

The rideshare driver told officers he had been shot, and the backseat passenger was taken to a local hospital with injuries, ISP reported.

Due to the investigation, northbound lanes of I-94 were temporarily closed near 53rd Street. The ISP said all lanes reopened at 5:15 a.m

The ISP did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
