Nintendo’s lawyers are allegedly going after the company that leaked the Switch 2 at CES

According to French reporter Julien Tellouck, Nintendo lawyers have approached accessory maker Genki over claims regarding Switch 2 mockups at CES.

Amid the constant Nintendo Switch 2 leaks, Genki made headlines on January 8 when Numerama reported that the accessories manufacturer based its CES 2025 model of the new console on the real thing.

It is worth noting that since then the manufacturer of equipment responded to the allegations regarding the mock-upstory CNET Japan that any device on which Genki based its design “was not provided to the company by Nintendo.”

Genki corrected the data, explaining that the leaks helped shape the fictional version. However, there is reason to believe that the accessory maker is not the target of Nintendo’s ire.

French gaming journalist Julien Tellouck (via Przyszłość31/Reddit) posted a short video on YouTube on January 11 about Nintendo lawyers approaching the Genki booth at CES 2025.

According to Tellouck, the legal team pressed Genki representatives about the console design unveiled at the consumer event.

Genki representatives allegedly argued that they were out of turn because they had never signed a confidentiality agreement.

How Nintendo plans to respond currently remains a mystery. At least it looks like Genki is on the company’s radar for all the wrong reasons.

Rumors and leaked photos began to gain momentum in the second half of 2024, all offering alleged glimpses of Nintendo’s next big hardware update. However, the platform owner remains silent, even though the audience is increasingly impatient waiting for the official reveal.

VGC reporter Andy Robinson says sources tell him Nintendo will show off the device and then give fans “full information later.”

This approach doesn’t seem too far off for the Switch maker, considering the original hybrid console had a similar public debut back in 2016.
