Sources: Two Detectives Led by Former NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey Caught Up in Overtime Investigation

Two women who worked for disgraced former New York Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey are embroiled in a federal criminal investigation. sexThe Post has learned it’s an overtime scandal.

Law enforcement sources say investigators searched the homes of Detective Ingrid Sanders, Maddrey’s former driver, and Detective Ady Reyes.

“The FBI came to their door, executed search warrants, issued grand jury subpoenas and identified them as persons of interest,” one source said. “They are at the center of this storm.”

An investigation by the U.S. Justice Department’s Southern District of New York is focusing on whether federal funds were used to pay for stolen overtime, sources told The Post.

Sources say the two women are not considered targets of the investigation and have not been charged.

The investigation was launched following a Dec. 21 front-page story in The Post about Lt. Quathisha Epps, the New York Police Department’s top overtime earner. She filed a federal complaint against Maddrey, then the department’s top uniformed officer, alleging that between June 2023 and December 16, 2024, he used OT to force her to perform “unwanted sexual favors.”

Records show Epps, 51, took home a staggering amount of more than $400,000 last year, about half of it in overtime. Maddrey repeatedly insisted through his lawyer that their sexual relationship was consensual.

Epps shared the sexual allegations in detail with The Post, calling the then-department chief a “predator.” Maddrey stepped down after The Post contacted the NYPD for comment.

“He wanted to have anal, vaginal and oral sex,” Epps said. “He always asked me to kiss his penis.”

Epps told The Post Maddrey, a close friend of Mayor Adams, allegedly targeted her because she had financial problems and was a victim of incest as a child.

Epps worked with Maddrey as he rose from housing supervisor to patrol chief and then department chief.

Sanders, who joined the department in 1993, earned a staggering $163,414 during OT last year and resigned days after The Post exposed her boss’ position alleged behavior at police headquarters.

Reyes, who also worked for Maddrey, was moved to public housing after The Post’s revelations. As a new police officer, she earned $42,500 in 2019, but in 2024 her pay increased to $154,405, including $55,923 in overtime, city records show.

A union official said both Sanders and Reyes have retained lawyers.

“It all falls on Maddrey,” the source said. “It’s a matter of supervision. This comes from the top of the section down. In fact, it comes from the town hall downwards.

Since the allegations surfaced, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch has been cleaning house, displacement dozens of New York City Police Department officers on December 28 in a shocking purge, starting with the heads of the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau.
