A man has died following a hit and run on the A38 in Taunton

Police said a 60-year-old man died following a hit-and-run.

He was found with serious injuries on the A38 Wellington New Road in Taunton just before 01:00 GMT.

A man, believed to be a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene and police are trying to trace his next of kin, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The A38 between the junctions of Silk Mills Road and Galmington Road has been closed while investigations are carried out and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
