The family of the suspect in the massacre in which a 10-year-old child died wanted him to go to hospital the day before

Suspicious in which three members of the same family were allegedly killed He reportedly had a mental health crisis the day before last week, but was denied hospital admission, family members say.

Rhonda Powell, 40, her 10-year-old son Braylon and her 1-year-old nephew Hayden were allegedly stabbed to death at a home in Amite, Los Angeles on Thursday, January 9, St. Parish Sheriff’s Office Helena he said last week.

Ryant Jones, 31, was arrested in connection with the killings and charged with murder, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jones’ family said on GoFundMe that Jones was related to the victims and suffered from schizophrenia.

According to his family, he “experienced an episode of mental disturbance” and was taken to a medical center for help the day before the murder.

said Deondra Robertson-Warner, Powell’s cousin WAFB that family members “requested that he be convicted and detained because he showed signs of aggression towards his brother. “They didn’t think it was a good idea to send him home.”

The family member also “begged or begged for the doctor to give him the shot, which usually works. Instead, the doctor gives him a pill,” Robertson-Warner said. Jones was then sent home.

“No one in this house survived because the mental health system failed them,” she told the outlet. “If it had been committed; he would be where he should be today and the rest of my family members would be alive…those children would be alive.”

The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on these claims.

The sheriff’s office says Jones faces three counts of first-degree murder.
