A leading theater figure in Northern Ireland, who is celebrating over five decades in the creative sector, has spoken of his gratitude to his adopted home, which has allowed him to develop his skills, work in a variety of roles and help local talent launch their careers.

Michael Poynor, born in the Falkland Islands and educated in Argentina and England, moved to Belfast in late 1973 to become director of performances at the Lyric Theater and then de facto artistic director for a year.
