A sheep dies and another is left with bite marks following a spate of dog attacks in Kelso

A series of attacks in a field in the Borders left a sheep dead and another left with bite marks.

Police said they were investigating two separate incidents involving sheep disturbance in a field adjacent to Rosebank Cemetery on Shedden Park Road, Kelso.

The first incident occurred on New Year’s Day when three sheep were attacked. As a result, one of the sheep died.

In the second incident, which occurred on January 13, one sheep was attacked in the same area between 9:15 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

The sheep was found to have numerous bite marks on its head and body.

The officers are asking witnesses to both incidents to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following two separate incidents of sheep disturbance which occurred in a field adjacent to Rosebank Cemetery, Shedden Park Road, Kelso.

“The first incident occurred on January 1, 2025, during which three sheep were attacked.

“As a result, one of the sheep died.

“The second incident occurred on January 13, 2025 between 9:15 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. when one sheep was attacked.

“The sheep had several bite marks on its head and body.

“If anyone has any information about this please contact Police Scotland on tel 101 or via the online contact form, citing incident 1762 of 13/01/2025.”
