Seattle judge Veronica Galván The decision to release an armed robbery suspect who then allegedly disemboweled a teenager – and a string of similar progressive decisions in the dock – make her “actually as dangerous as the violent suspects she chooses to keep off the streets,” talk show host show Jason Rantz told Fox News Digital.

Millorz J. Canales, a 17-year-old alleged Norteño gang member, was charged with assault, kidnapping and robbery December 17. Canales and his accomplice allegedly lured a 14-year-old to Lions Park in Everett, KOMO News reported.

The victim, who later confessed to police his ties to rival South Side Locos, was left for dead after being tied to a tree, stripped naked, stabbed eight times, carved with the letter “N” and disemboweled, according to Snohomish County Attorney’s Office. The 20-minute attack was captured on surveillance video, according to the office.

The victim survived and ran to a nearby house for help.

Police quickly identified Canales as the prime suspect in the attack. When he was arrested by Everett police, police found a blood-soaked sweatshirt and bloody green boxer shorts, – KTTH reported.

A few weeks earlier, on November 15, Canales was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime gang-related armed robbery in Seattle. He was released without bail on Dec. 2 by Galvan over objections from the King County Prosecutor’s Office and was awaiting trial when he allegedly mutilated the 14-year-old.

“Please understand that the Ethics Rules prohibit the Court from commenting on any specific case. If you wish, you can request a copy of the interrogation recordings through the Office of the Secretary,” Galvan bailiff Sonam Lata told Fox News Digital.

The King County Attorney’s Office could not immediately be reached for comment.

“She doesn’t believe, especially for young offenders, that prison works. It doesn’t discourage you. It doesn’t change behavior,” Rantz told Fox News Digital. “The problem, of course, is that we cannot look at it only through the prism of the desire for reform. It’s also about protecting society, every day when someone dangerous is not behind bars where they belong, it’s another day they can commit a crime and create another victim.

“And unfortunately in this judge’s case, we see it happen over and over again with people who have stood in front of her and gotten a slap on the wrist, if that happened,” Rantz continued.

In early 2024, Galvan released 12- and 13-year-old brothers accused of stealing a car using a ghost gun and leading police on a high-speed chase, Fox 13 reported the story.

In July, she released three teenagers on electronic home monitoring after they allegedly threatened para-riders with a loaded gun modified to be automatic. Prosecutors argued that for the safety of the community, the teenagers should be in prison, KOMO News reported. But Galvan said she wanted to see if the teens could turn things around through community support programs.

“We have been detaining people for many years and crime continues. “Kids continue to do inappropriate things and we continue to have disturbing behavior,” she said, according to the outlet. “This is going to involve a lot more than just throwing people in and locking them up without a key.”

Rantz said Galvan’s behavior on the stand is “a perfect example of what happens when you take your ideology and make it part of your job, where you view the decisions you make through a very specific, social ideological lens and a focus on justice.”

Moreover, he added, Galvan is not the only judge with a lenient approach to crime who regularly releases suspects who have committed more serious crimes.

“My basic rule on my radio show is that when I cover these types of stories: If I remember the judge’s name, it’s almost never for the right reasons,” Rantz said. “It is always because of the soft-on-crime policies they have introduced and adopted. I know many judges’ names. Unfortunately, this is because many of these judges make thoughtless, dangerous decisions that put dangerous people back on the streets.”

“It’s not just about Veronica Galvan. I could probably write a similar story about many judges, dozens of judges across the state. She happened to be involved in a very important case that caught my attention,” Rantz said.

“Both Seattle and Washington state are “living with the consequences” of progressive court decisions,” he said.

“Many of our judges and many prosecutors in the state have actually taken the position that they want to dismantle the criminal justice system and then rebuild it through this very specific ideological lens – we saw that in the most obvious ways during the BLM movement in 2020-2021 , where they were quite literally using this language, dismantling the criminal justice system and rebuilding it,” Rantz said.

“We have seen that policies and laws have been changed that are precisely intended to create a system where justice is not truly blind,” he continued. “That because of the identity of the accused, that person is treated differently, more positively for himself, negatively for the victim. This is the unfortunate reality we live in… Washington State he has been infected with this kind of woke thinking for a very long time.”

Galvan was appointed to the position by Washington Governor Jay Inslee in 2014. Since then, she has run for re-election multiple times unopposed.

“We have a problem in King County, particularly in Seattle, where we have a lot of vacant positions that end up being filled by appointments by the Democratic governor. And then no one challenges. It’s a failure. , I believe, from the… local Republican Party,” Rantz said. “Either you’re going to try to get the best of the best to come forward and run for these positions, or you’re going to continue to see what we’ve seen, which is just giving all the power to the radicals.”
