Pellum entered transfer portal on Jan. 6, after just one season in Eugene. The former four-star recruit’s quick departure was somewhat surprising given his short stay in the program, but the timeline of the latest legal changes helped shed some light on the potential justification for his departure.

Pellum was a four-star recruit for the Ducks in the 2024 class recruiting class graduated from Millikan High School in Long Beach, California. Before signing with Oregon, Pellum was originally signed to the USC Trojans before joining the Ducks and becoming involved with the Oregon coach Dan Lanning.

He had offers from teams such as: Ohio State Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, Colorado, Penn State, Georgia, USC, Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Washington, Tennessee, Arizona State, BYU, Arkansas, Auburn and many others. He ends his career at Oregon, playing in just four games. He had a tackle in a 31-10 win over the Michigan State Spartans on October 4, but his most notable play came on a costly error a few weeks later against the Michigan Wolverines.

With the Ducks leading 7-0 in the first quarter in Ann Arbor, Pellum fumbled after trying to avoid a tackle on a punt return on Michigan’s second drive. This allowed the Wolverines to recover and take possession of the ball at the Oregon 28-yard line. Michigan State quarterback Davis Warren found receiver Tyler Morris a few plays later for a seven-yard gain to tie the score. Oregon didn’t blink despite the deficit and won 38-17.

Pellum was assigned punt return duties after the star receiver suffered an injury early in this game Johnson’s thesis.
